There were zero new locally acquired positive cases reported in Victoria again yesterday
for the ninth day and now only 21 active cases in total. As a result of this good news,
Victoria is in a stable position and the government eased restrictions further as at
midnight last night.
The lockdown in greater Sydney and other parts of NSW has been extended due to
continued exposure to the highly transmissable Delta variant of the virus, with no sign of
an end until the outbreak is ‘significantly curtailed’, according to the NSW Premier. The
Victorian Health Minister has urged Victorians not to travel to NSW at present.
National Cabinet meets again today to consider new COVID-19 measures including the
possibility of home quarantine for fully vaccinated travellers returning to Australia and
compulsory vaccination of disability workers (aged care workers are already required to
be vaccinated).
