Building & Construction Industry Update

Building & Construction Industry Update

July 9, 2021

View latest update here: Building & Construction Industry Update Covid 19 – 090721

There were zero new locally acquired positive cases reported in Victoria again yesterday

for the ninth day and now only 21 active cases in total. As a result of this good news,

Victoria is in a stable position and the government eased restrictions further as at

midnight last night.

The lockdown in greater Sydney and other parts of NSW has been extended due to

continued exposure to the highly transmissable Delta variant of the virus, with no sign of

an end until the outbreak is ‘significantly curtailed’, according to the NSW Premier. The

Victorian Health Minister has urged Victorians not to travel to NSW at present.

National Cabinet meets again today to consider new COVID-19 measures including the

possibility of home quarantine for fully vaccinated travellers returning to Australia and

compulsory vaccination of disability workers (aged care workers are already required to

be vaccinated).

COVID-19 – Building & Construction Industry Update 2021

COVID-19 – Building & Construction Industry Update 2021

January 15, 2021

Update on Face Masks

EFFECTIVE: MIDNIGHT, SUNDAY 17TH JANUARY

Face masks will no longer be required to be worn on construction sites, however – our Industry COVID-19 Guidelines still require workers to carry face masks at all times and wear them in hoists/lifts and where physical distancing of 1.5 metres cannot be maintained.

*This updates and overrides earlier advice that face masks must be worn
indoors on building and construction sites and in offices, crib rooms and amenities.

The total number of workers permitted on site at any one time is subject to a density quotient of one person per two square metres in common areas – this includes offices, crib rooms and amenities.

Locations where face masks are still mandatory in the state of VICTORIA include:

On public transport
Riding in a taxi/ride share
Shopping centres and indoor markets
Large retail stores
Domestic flights and airports
Hospitals

We are committed to continue leading workers safely through the COVID-19 pandemic. Our priority has always been to protect the safety and livelihoods of our members, their families, and the broader community.

Please remember the COVID-safe practices we have put in place.

The work you are doing is vital. Be proud to be union and proud to lead the recovery of our economy.

Current DHHS Guidelines: January 2021

January 12, 2021

The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) has provided the following information to our industry ahead of tomorrow, Wednesday 13th January 2021, when the majority of Victorian worksites will re-open after the festive season.

All members of Victoria’s building, development and construction industry (unless exempted) must:

Carry a face mask and wear it when indoors (except when eating or drinking). Indoors means when entering any enclosed area such as an office, hoist or lift, crib room or ablutions.

Wear a face mask in other situations outdoors when you cannot physically distance 1.5 metres.
Continue to wash your hands and sanitise frequently.

And, if you have any COVID-19 symptoms – STAY HOME AND GET TESTED.
